Project Description
At Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 225 in Amsterdam, De Pershal has been transformed into a high-end office space where monumental elements and modern luxury converge. The ground floor and mezzanine have been designed with respect for the robust construction, industrial concrete columns, and timeless black steel beams, complemented by sleek white plasterwork. Simultaneously, the adjacent retail space at Kalverstraat 28 has been re-subdivided, restoring the original layout.
The variation in height and space within De Pershal evokes a sense of dynamism and recalls the monumental printing presses that once stood here. Elements such as a central winter garden and quiet nooks provide a balance between liveliness and stillness, making the building an inspiring workplace.
With this transformation, De Pershal retains its historic charm while simultaneously evolving into a representative and future-proof workspace right in the heart of Amsterdam.
