Project Description
The Kloosterkwartier in Veghel comprises two national monuments, a park, a canal, schools, a boarding school, and a striking “zigzag building”. Located between the centre of Veghel and the popular Vijverwijk, this district offers an attractive environment with plenty of greenery and space. In the immediate vicinity, there are amenities such as schools, childcare facilities, and sports clubs, making it a place that provides space for everyone. Despite its tranquil atmosphere, the cosy market square is within walking distance.
Community Hub of Veghel
The Convent Quarter, including the convent/motherhouse and chapel of the Franciscan Sisters, and the former Bernhoven hospital grounds, is intended to be the social “heart of Veghel”. This initiative aligns with the sisters' ethos, having lived and carried out their social mission here for over 175 years, with a particular focus on education, care, and schooling. Together with the sisters and Zenzo Social Real Estate, plans have been developed for a contemporary living environment on a site of approximately 7 to 8 hectares. Within this historic context, eight comfortable apartment buildings will be created, suitable for young and old, for people with and without care needs.
Development of Residential Buildings
Four new residential buildings (C, D, G and H), the Convent (Mother House) which is being renovated, and the LeefgoedCentrum in the chapel have been purchased by Area Wonen. vb&t Projectmanagement B.V. is involved in the development of this project on behalf of Area. This includes establishing the collaboration between the parties involved, taking over this part of the development, as well as the project planning and realisation. In total, 178 homes will be realised, with the chapel being renovated and converted into a LeefgoedCentrum and a community centre for the neighbourhood.
Estate Veghel
The development of Leefgoed Veghel in the chapel is happening in close collaboration with various parties. An intention agreement was signed in September 2019, after which a core group was formed to work together on shaping Leefgoed. This concept offers a place where people and organisations support each other and undertake joint activities, starting from the strength of the community.
An Inclusive Community
Leefgoed Veghel offers space for families, people with extra care needs, pupils, associations, entrepreneurs, and more. It is a place where everyone is welcome and feels at home. The concept encourages a unique community, where people make use of each other's talents and achieve more together thanks to the integrated, neighbourhood-focused approach. The wishes of the residents are central to this flexible network, in which everyone contributes from their own strengths. The aim is to make the repurposing of the heritage of the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters a great success.

VB&T Activities
vb&t Projectmanagement is responsible for total cost and project management for this project, from the initiation phase through to the aftercare phase. For vb&t, the project includes the following activities, among others:
